Our Senior Management Team:

Simon Newman

Mr. Newman is the president of Cornerstone Management Group, a private investment and advisory business based in Los Angeles. In early 2008 Mr. Newman merged Cornerstone's investment activities with JP Capital Partners at which time he became one of two Managing Directors of the firm's $100 million fund. At JP Capital Partners, Mr. Newman is responsible for all investment activity.

In his 25 year career, Mr. Newman has extensive M&A experience having completed over 65 engagements on deals valued at $108 billion many of them cross border transactions. He has raised over $20 billion in equity and debt financings to support bids and acquisitions he has originated from Cornerstone. Mr. Newman has a deep expertise in business strategy and profit improvement especially within the Media and Entertainment, Telecommunications, Foods, Business Services, Software and Manufacturing industries. He has worked in six countries including USA, United Kingdom, Sweden, Holland, Belgium and Australia.

Prior to founding Cornerstone in 1995 Mr. Newman worked at Bain & Company with Mark Curcio, and LEK Consulting for ten years where he co-founded LEK's West Coast office. At these firms Mr. Newman completed numerous re-engineering and performance improvement projects. Representative clients include Time Warner, Pacific Telesis, Universal Studios, Disney, Viacom, US West, Blockbuster, Imperial Group, British Aerospace and Imperial Chemical Industries.

Mr. Newman has also held the positions of controller and director of operations for FilmNet, now Canal+ International, one of Europe's largest pay-tv companies. He has founded or cofounded three software or service businesses.

Mr. Newman has a BA with honors and an MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Mark Curcio

Mr. Curcio is a partner at Cornerstone Management Group where he leads the firm's advisory business for private equity funds. Over the last six years he has worked both at Cornerstone and individually on multiple assignments for such funds as Bain Capital, TPG and Golden Gate Capital. He also sits on numerous boards and has been a principal investor in a number of entertainment companies.

From 1997 through late 2000 Mr. Curcio was the CEO of Artisan Entertainment. Mr. Curcio originated the acquisition of then Live Entertainment on behalf of Bain Capital and used this vehicle to consolidate and rebrand/restructure the market for film libraries. The acquisition was highly successful and under his stewardship the firm grew from $100 million and losing money, to more than $450 million in revenue and $40 million of EBITDA in two years. Artisan was sold in late 1999 for a 4.5x return on investment, and then again to Lionsgate in 2001 for an additional 2x investment return.

Prior to Artisan, Mr. Curcio was one of the founding Partners of Bain and Company's Los Angeles Office, and he was also one of the original Partners in Bain's Private Equity Practice. His work has focused on assessing growth opportunities and performance improvements. Representative clients include CBS, Time Warner, John Deere, Sara Lee and AutoNation. Prior to that he was a partner at LEK Consulting.

Mr. Curcio started his career at Bain and Company in Boston in 1985 and worked there until he joined The Walt Disney Company as the head of Corporate Strategy for the film studio from 1989-1991. Mr. Curcio has an MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Chemical Engineering/Premedicine from the University of Pittsburgh in 1981.

Adam Gerstein

Mr.Gerstein is a Senior Associate at Cornerstone, where he brings nearly 20 years of entrepreneurial and management consulting experience. Prior to joining Conerstone, Mr. Gerstein was the founder and CEO of Beauty Addicts, a New York based Cosmetics Company. He previously co-founded TexYard, a B2B software company that managed supply chain and procurement for some of Europe's largest clothing retailers. He was also the co-founder of Neurosmith, the maker of intelligent learning toys, where he was the director of sales and marketing and built the company to $17 million in it's first three years.

In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Mr. Gerstein has a decade of management consulting experience at Bain & Company and LEK Consulting, where he specialized in sales growth and cost reduction strategy and implementation, as well as financial consulting to the banking industry in first world and developing countries.

He has spent more than 4 years outside of the US, living and working with clients in countries around the globe, including South Africa, United Kingdom, Mexico, Italy and Turkey.

Adam has a BA in Mechanical Engineering from Berkeley where he was a Drake Scholar.
